There are three different types of electronic Indian Visa for Portuguese Citizens wishing to travel to India: the tourist online travel permit, the business electronic visa, and the travel authorization for those seeking medical aid.
The eTourist visa for India allows the holder to stay for up to 90 days. This single-entry visa can be used for tourism, visiting friends or relatives, or taking part in activities such as yoga retreats. Portuguese travelers must arrive in India within one year of approval of their visas.
The eBusiness visa for India is designed for travelers who wish to visit India for business purposes. It is a double-entry visa that allows holders to stay for up to 180 days in total (the length of stay is calculated from the first date of entry into India).
Business visitors must arrive in India within one year of approval of their visa. This visa can be used:
- For sales/purchases or trade
- To attend technical/business meetings
- To set up industrial/business venture
- To conduct tours
- To deliver lecture(s) under the Global Initiative for Academic Networks (GIAN)
- To recruit manpower
- To participate in exhibitions or business/trade fairs
- Expert/specialist in connection with an ongoing project
The eMedical visa for India is a short-term visa that allows the holder to enter India a total of three times to seek medical treatment. Holders can stay in the country for a maximum of 60 days.
This visa type is not available for family members – accompanying blood relatives must apply for a Medical Attendant Visa to travel with a person who has been granted a Medical Visa.
How Can Portuguese Nationals Apply for an India eVisa?
It is simple for Portugal passport holders to apply for an Indian Visa for Colombia Citizens — there is no need to travel to an Indian embassy or consulate to apply. The whole application process is carried out on the internet, making it cheaper and easier than ever to visit India.
The online visa is granted soon after successfully filling in the online form, paying the processing fee and submitting the required information, such as personal details, passport information and travel plans.
To successfully apply for the eVisa for India, Portuguese applicants should ensure they have a valid passport, a debit or credit card, and an email address ready to use.
Portuguese Traveling to India: Requirements
It is essential that travelers meet the necessary requirements to obtain permission to enter India.
During the eVisa application process, applicants must submit details about their return or onward travel from India (applicants must have a ticket demonstrating this). Also, an applicant’s passport must be valid for at least six months from the start of planned travel to India and have at least two blank pages remaining.
Once approved, the eVisa will be sent via email, so it is important applicants verify their email address during the application process. To gain entry into India, all applicants must print a copy of their eVisa and carry it with them throughout their stay in the country.
Approved electronic visas can be used to enter through any of India’s 28 designated airports and five seaports. Anyone wishing to enter India through an undesignated port of entry will need to apply for a standard visa.
